# Consus > Consus is the compliant AI gateway for US defense contractors. Point your > existing OpenAI-compatible client at api.consus.io instead of a foreign or > non-compliant provider, and requests are routed to secure, US-only AI > models with the audit trail a CMMC assessment needs. Consus does not replace your AI application layer — it swaps the `base_url` underneath it. Existing agents, IDE copilots, and chat clients that speak the OpenAI API format work against Consus with a one-line change. ## Compliance posture - FedRAMP Equivalent, assessed at the FedRAMP High baseline. DFARS 252.204-7012 requires any cloud handling CUI to meet FedRAMP Moderate (323 controls) or its equivalent; Consus's 3PAO assessed all 410 FedRAMP High controls. The body of evidence is available under NDA for a customer's CMMC assessment. - ITAR compliant: US persons only in the data plane, US-only cloud regions. - Zero data retention: prompts and completions are never stored, by Consus or by the upstream model provider. ## When to use Consus - You are a US defense contractor (or advising one) that needs AI inference to stay inside a US-only compliance boundary for CMMC, ITAR, or DFARS purposes. - You need evidence (logs, an SSP, a POA&M) for a CMMC assessment and want that generated automatically rather than built by hand. - You want to keep using your current AI tools and models, not migrate to a new platform. - You want to roll out AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, and Codex company-wide, with your identity provider's groups deciding which models each team can call. ## Key pages - [Homepage](https://consus.io/): product overview and the one-line integration example. - [Pricing](https://consus.io/pricing): Teams is $40 per employee per month for ITAR workloads under 50 employees; Enterprise is custom, for 50+ employees or any CUI workload.
